Abstract:
Chinese education, especially women’s education, underwent rapid development in Singapore and Malaya during the pre-war period. Nonetheless, there were many gaps between education for men and that for women. The differences were mainly in terms of number of students, grade, budget, content and social expectation. This seminar examines pre-war Chinese education from a gender perspective and identifies what contributes to the differences between education for men and that for women.
note: The seminar will be delivered in Mandarin.
