JOHOR BAHRU(Aug 10, 2017) – The Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh launched the UTM-Huawei iLearning Cloud at the Media and Game Innovation Centre of Excellence (MaGICX), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in collaboration with Huawei Malaysia.
The concept of “iLearning Cloud” is launched by using Cloud Computing and Big Data technology which enables the teaching and learning process to become more interactive. By using this technology, it will help the students to achieve more interactive teaching and learning materials wherever they are. It is also introducing the concept of learning on-demand.
In this program, the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) initiatives such as MOOC,eLearning and Lifelong Learning are integrated into a Cloud Computing environment. Students can also interact with lecturers or specialists indifferent places directly through live video conferencing. In addition,students and lecturers can also share the learning content among the universities through this introduced “iLearning Cloud”.
The launch of “UTM-Huawei iLearning Cloud” is in line with the MoHE’s intention to “Redesigning Higher Education”. MaGICX employs their expertise in assisting the innovation of digital technology-based learning for higher education in Malaysia. Data analytic and cloud computing support students to interact with learning content in keeping with the latest digital trends through gadgets and internet access.

On the sameday, YB Minister also launched the “Classroom of the Future”. UTM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid Bin Omar, MoHE Secretary-General, Director-Generalof MoHE, Datin Paduka Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah Binti Tapsir attended the event.
“Inresponse to the challenge of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and in line with the MoHE’s intention to Redesigning Higher Education, UTM has implemented various initiatives including by introducing the concept of ‘Classroom of the Future’,” says Prof. DatukIr. Dr. Wahid Bin Omar, UTM Vice-Chancellor.
MaGICX is acentre of excellence in strategic collaboration between UTM and Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA). Established in 2013, MaGICX plays an important role as a key driver for the Digital Media Industry and Gamification Technology. MaGICX is the first gamification centre of excellence in Malaysia which focusing on research, talent developmentand product commercialization.
